Procuring a birth certificate has become a tough task at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College Hospital (KCGMCH).

Residents today alleged staff negligence after they found the office for issuing birth certificates at the KCGMCH, locked.

Karambir, a resident of Jundla, said, “I was asked to come today to get the birth certificate of my son, Rudra. But when I reached here, the branch was closed.”

He claimed to have applied for the birth certificate on July 31. Several others outside the office uttered similar complaints.

However, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Yogesh Sharma said the delay to in issuing birth certificates was due to incomplete applications. He said the dealing hand of the birth certificate branch on holiday today and three other employees had been assigned the task.

Sharma said the facility to issue birth certificates was started at KCGMCH in May 2016.
