Man falls into Sukhna, rescued

CHANDIGARH: A morning walker accidentally fell into Sukhna Lake this morning.

A morning walker accidentally fell into Sukhna Lake this morning. He was rescued.

According to the police, Yogesh (42), a resident of Panchkula, had gone for a walk when he fell into the lake. Satish Kumar, DSP (Central), said, “It was an accident; the victim was exercising near the stairs when he lost balance and slipped into the lake.”

The victim, a regular visitor to the lake, was accompanied by his friend, who rescued him. The police were informed about the incident following which the patrolling party of the Lake police post rushed to the spot and ensured the safe rescue of the victim.

The police official said the victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16. “The victim fell unconscious following which he was admitted to the hospital,” the DSP said.

The police have lodged a daily diary report in the matter and are investigating the matter. The victim’s statement has been recorded.
