Mandi, April 22

Rewalsar town, which attracts a large number of tourists and devotees every year, is wearing a deserted look after thousands of fish were found dead in the Rewalsar Lake.

Officials of the district administration were today seen wearing masks and undertaking rescue operation to save the remaining fish. The police have been deployed around the lake to keep people from visiting the area fearing health hazards. The local administration has advised people to refrain from visiting the lake for the next few days.

Pawan Kumar, a local resident, said the lake had a great religious significance and after the incident, the religious tourism would take a hit.

The lake was also a good source of income for local shopkeepers. Before the incident, devotees could feed the fish in the lake, but the local administration has now banned the practice.
