Rs 22.79 cr for Kangra beautification

Different development and beautification projects will be implemented in Kangra town at a cost of Rs 22.79 crore. These projects funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Kangra Sub-Divisional Magistrate Debasweta Banik stated this at a meeting held here today. She said the ADB would fund different tourism-related beautification projects as per the master town plan in the town. A meeting of officials of the departments concerned was convened in this connection for discussing time-bound implementation of these projects.

She directed the officials to implement these projects in the town keeping in view quality control and specific time duration for implementation. Banik said under this programme the beautification of temples and crossings would be undertaken.

The SDM said on Temple Road the old canopy would be replaced with an ultramodern canopy to provide facilities to pilgrims and shopkeepers.

Suggestions were sought from shopkeepers and priests of the Bajjreshwari temple in this connection. The SDM said while replacing the old canopy the ventilation, drainage of rainwater and power supply on the road would be taken care of.

In Kangra town, from Tehsil Chowk to the Bajjreshwari temple on the premises of the Chaker Kund temple and in Mata Ka Baagh interlock tiles would be laid. Besides, provision would be made for dustbins, rain shelters, power supply facilities, sewerage, toilet facilities, parking lots, footbridge and signboards for the temple.

Seating arrangements for visiting pilgrims and a coffee shop would be part of the project. The SDM told the officials that all the pipe-laying works in the town should be completed and after the laying of tiles, no permission would be granted for any pipe-laying works.
