Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar has distanced himself from the remark made by veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha over downward spiral of Indian economy and says that he does not want to go with Sinha’s point of view, but economy of the country has strengthened under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He was in the city today to distribute physical aids and assisted-living devices of Rs 81 lakh to 1,611 senior citizens belonging to the BPL category. This step was taken under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, an initiative of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment with the help of implementing agency, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO).

While interacting with mediapersons, Gurjar hailed the steps being taken by the Centre for strengthening the economy, including GST. He says the Union Government is committed for the welfare of the people and wherever any problem arises in the GST, the government will try to rectify it.

Accompanied by Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Bedi, former CPS Bakhshish Singh Virk, Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi, former minister Shashipal Mehta, district BJP president Jagmohan Anand and others, the Union minister says the Central Government has initiated several steps for disabled persons, including making government buildings disabled-friendly, distributing cochlear implant, a small and complex electronic device to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard-of-hearing and others. He says that these devices have been provided to 800 children and a sum of nearly Rs 6 lakh was incurred on each child.

Under the yojana, 69 districts have been earmarked in first phase. Four districts from each state would be included in the project soon. In Haryana, Ambala and Karnal have been selected in the first phase.

During the event, walking sticks, wheelchairs, digital hearing aids, smart phone to visible impaired people, smart canes, spectacles and other items were given to the needy persons.
