Dharamsala, September 10
Congress workers on Monday led by former minister Sudhir Sharma carried out a protest against the rising fuel prices in response to the nationwide bandh call by the party.
The Congress workers carrying placards protested and marched through Kotwali market against raising slogans against the NDA government. Sudhir Sharma alleged that the fuel prices in country were at historic high and value of rupee was at its lowest ebb. Since most of the fuel oil was imported the weakening rupee was like to hit the economy of the country hard. It was surprising that the NDA government had been sitting pretty and doing nothing regarding the declining rupee value and rising fuel costs, he alleged.
Though the Congress workers protested there was not much response to the banch call of the party. The shops in Kotwali market remain closed on Mondays and there was not much response to bandh in other areas of Dharamsala.
