Many road projects, despite receiving government sanction long ago, could not be started in Rajouri district as the departments concerned failed to get the forest department’s clearance due to lack of coordination.
Twelve road projects have been delayed as the executing agencies, including the PWD (R&B) and pradhan mantri gram sadak yojana (PMGSY) department, have failed to coordinate with officials of the forest department.
The road projects delayed by the PWD (R&B) include stretches from Lam to Loha Katha, Kothian to Malgujran (under Nowshera division), Doongi to Panjgarain road, Agrati to Jabbar road and Muradpur to Mohalla Loharan road (under Rajouri division).
Executive Engineers, PMGSY, Rajouri and Budhal divisions, said five road projects had been delayed in Rajouri division and one road project was delayed in Budhal division as clearance from the forest department was awaited.
MA Asad, Deputy Commissioner, expressed concern over the unnecessary delay in the developmental projects, including roads, schools and Indian System of Medicines dispensary buildings at Panjgrain and Ghambhir Brahmna, respectively.
“The Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, has been directed to resolve the issue of the dispensaries while the Chief Education Officer has been asked to submit a factual report about school buildings,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
