The Monsoon Session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly was on Wednesday adjourned sine die, nine days ahead of its scheduled date, following ruckus over the high-profile Vyapam scam.

After the listed business was transacted in the House, the session was adjourned sine die following acrimony, noisy scenes and sloganeering over the scam.

This is for the third consecutive time that the state Assembly session has ended abruptly over the multi-crore Vyapam scam. Before the Monsoon Session, the Budget and Winter sessions were also adjourned midway following din over the scandal.

As soon as the members assembled in the House for the third day of the Monsoon Session, four BSP members, including two women legislators, sporting blue aprons trooped into the Well demanding resignation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over Vyapam scam.

They were joined by Congress members.

Amid the din, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma tried to start the Question Hour asking BJP member Narendra Singh Kushwaha to speak. But, Kushwaha got upset as BSP members kept on shouting slogans.

After a while, an angry Kushwaha left his seat and started walking towards the Well. He was seen pointing his hand at his footwear which irked BSP and Congress members.

BSP and Congress members created a furore in the House stating that the act was unbecoming of a member.

In the meantime, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra intervened and Kushwaha returned to his seat.

In the midst of uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

After the House re-assembled, the opposition and treasury benches indulged in trading charges against each other over the Vyapam issue, which resulted in another adjournment till 11.30 am. — PTI
