The National Commission for Women on Monday issued a notice to BJP lawmaker Sadhna Singh for making "unethical and offensive" remarks against BSP chief Mayawati and asked her to furnish a reply to the notice.

In a one-page notice today, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma cited BJP MLA Singh’s remarks against Mayawati to say “these are unbecoming of people holding positions of power”.

Singh, an MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Mughalsarai on Sunday lashed out at Mayawati for striking a Lok Sabha alliance with the SP, which insulted her to the extent of “disrobing” her.

The Commission earlier issued a notice for sexist remarks to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
