THE acquittal of four out of five accused by the Calcutta High Court in the Raja Bazar case and again the acquittal of the accused in the Chittagong shooting case one more raise the old question of police efficiency. It is a legitimate question to ask how long innocent men should be permitted to be harrassed and the guilty undetected? If it is contended that the men are all suspects the further question arises how long the highest judicial officers should be required to give their time and attention to cases in which there is no evidence to convict.
