Srinagar, September 9

“Good morning Kashmir. This is Radio Raabta 90.8 dil Se dil tak. Welcome to the Army’s first community radio station for civilians”. The Army on Wednesday launched the first community radio station (CRS) in south Kashmir in a bid to reach out to the youth. The CRS has been set up at Anantnag high ground and the studio is housed inside a garrison.

The Army is planning to launch another such station in the militancy-hit Shopian district.

“The aim is to reach out to the public, especially the youth, with a message of entertainment and peace,” General Officer Commanding of south Kashmir-based Victor Force Major-General A Sengupta told The Tribune.

The CRS, the Army said, would be on air for the maximum part of the day and all programmes would be in Urdu and Kashmir languages. — TNS
