Chandigarh bike-sharing project: Pay for bicycle rides from today

Chandigarh, September 20

Rides under the public bike-sharing project will be chargeable in the city from tomorrow.

MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra said a team conducted an inspection today following which it was decided that the firm could start taking charges from Tuesday afternoon after notifying the registered users about it through the Smart Bike App.

“They have implemented all things as per the contract. There could still be some teething problems, which will be resolved by them simultaneously,” she said.

The rides earlier continued to be free as the glitches were not removed. The rides were made free after users faced issues in locking and unlocking bikes using the Smart Bike App.

The company was asked to fix all problems by September 12. A fee of Rs10 plus the GST will be charged for using a bicycle for half an hour. — TNS
