Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar today called upon mahila mandals to give their full cooperation in making Seraj a model Assembly constituency in Mandi district.
He said that the women of the area were fully aware and should take advantage of the schemes launched by the government.
The Governor appreciated the initiative of the Chief Minister for adopting natural farming in the state. He said that Himachal had shown the way and today other states were following this farming system. There was a need to move forward in this direction, he said.
Appreciating the cultural program organised on the occasion, he said that there was a need to preserve this culture. “This lifestyle and behaviour is our identity,” he said.
Dr Sadhna Thakur, member, Indian Red Cross Managing Committee and Chairperson, State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section, welcomed the Governor in Thunag area and said that people of the area were honoured that a Governor came to Thunag for the first time.
She appealed to the mahila mandals to publicize all welfare-oriented schemes and programmes of the state and Central Government up to grassroots so that the people of the remote areas could be benefited.
