Jalandhar, February 8
The 2 Punjab NCC Battalion felicitated the cadets who participated in the Republic Day Camp, Delhi. They were given track suits and medals at the battalion headquarters here on Thursday.
Commanding Officer Colonel Vinod Joshi said the Republic Day Camp was NCC’s biggest national-level camp, the practice for which began in October last year. It consists of five main competitions — escort drill on Kartavya Path, Prime Minister’s rally, selection of best cadet, cultural programme and flag area briefing.
Colonel Joshi added that NCC is the largest youth organisation in the world and close to 2,000 cadets take part in the camp at Delhi every year. Lt Col Daljit Aulakh applauded Sergeant Abhishek Kumar of Lyallpur Khalsa College and Cadet Om Singh of KMS College, Tanda for their participation in the PM’s rally.
Cadet Mehek Arora of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology gave a special performance in the cultural programme, Chandigarh, Cadet Chetan Pasi of Cantonment Board Senior Secondary School performed as a drummer in the presentation of Bhangra while drill master Subedar Chandrabhan and Havaldar Upjinderpal Singh from the battalion made special contributions by preparing the cadets for military drills and other competitions, he added.
The battalion also arranged high tea for the cadets after the felicitation ceremony.
