Members of the Muslim community under the banner of Majlis Ehrar Islam-e-Hind held a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and UP Shia Wakf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi on Friday.

They raised slogans against the Central Government for changing the Constitution’s secular and multi-religious character. They said the government was organising public rallies from its own party cadre in favour of the CAA and the NRC to deflect public attention from undergoing protests.

They also flayed the UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi for writing to the government to get the anti-CAA protest site vacated claiming that the land belongs to Shia trust.
