Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched its Platinum 3G service for customers in Punjab. The service will be available in all 149 census towns across the Punjab circle.

The service provider claims that the new service being offered on the efficient 900 MHz spectrum band would offer a superior mobile experience to customers through faster mobile data speeds, significantly enhanced indoor data coverage and better voice clarity.

Airtel has a subscriber base of over 80 lakh in Punjab and currently offers 2G and 4G services in the state.

Commenting on the launch of the service, Manu Sood, Hub CEO, Upper North, Bharti Airtel, said, “We are delighted to launch Platinum 3G in all 149 towns across Punjab that will redefine mobile experience for our customers. With Platinum 3G and 4G, Airtel has the largest and widest mobile broadband network deployment in the state and our customers can now enjoy superior data speeds, significantly enhanced indoor data coverage and better voice clarity across the state. This launch is part of Project Leap, Airtel’s nationwide network transformation initiative and underlines our commitment to our customers. We will continue to invest in network augmentation across Punjab to deliver best-in-class mobile services to our customers.”

It also claims that the services will also help further optimise the backend engagement between the network and mobile devices, thus allowing customers to enjoy extended battery life on their phones. The company is also offering exciting introductory tariff plans for Platinum 3G.

Airtel has recently commenced the implementation of its network transformation programme ‘Project Leap’ in Upper North. With a national investment of Rs 60,000 crore over the next three years, Airtel’s ‘Project Leap’ is a strategic company initiative aimed at perceptibly improving its network quality and delivering the best customer experience.
