Polling overall peaceful: SSP

CHANDIGARH: With deployment of around 3,260 security personnel, including the UT police and the Central Armed Police Forces, the elections concluded peacefully without any incident of violence being reported.

With deployment of around 3,260 security personnel, including the UT police and the Central Armed Police Forces, the elections concluded peacefully without any incident of violence being reported.

SSP UT Jagdale Nilambari said, “Overall, the elections concluded peacefully in the city without any violence or disturbance. There were minor issues, which were resolved at the spot.”

Five CAPF companies with 360 personnel, including those from the BSF, Sashastra Seema Bal and the CRPF, were deployed at all sensitive booths and at all polling stations having five or more booths. Forty reserve forces and a quick reaction team (QRT) were also deployed in the city.
