The Annual Founder’s Day celebrations of Christian Medical College, Ludhiana were held today.

The day is celebrated in the loving memory of the CMC’s founder, Dame Edith Brown, who realised the need for training doctors and nurses to serve the community. Her initiative over 123 years ago now stands as one of the premier medical institutions in India. Nearly 65 alumni from the batches of 1967 and 1986, visited their alma mater for their 50 years and 25 years reunion respectively from all over the world. Some of them visited after decades having left the portals of Christian Medical College! Many other alumni over the years also attended the celebrations.

The day started with a worship service in college Chapel, remembering the alumni who have passed on and are no longer in society, especially from the reunion batches. Dr Subhash Singla, President, Association of Medical Alumni, CMC welcomed the visiting alumni.

Dr Abraham G Thomas, Director, CMC & Hospital and Dr Tejinder Singh, Acting Principal, CMC, addressed the gathering. Visiting alumni, alumni from the city and nearby towns and the CMC faculty and students attended the function with great interest.

Dr. AbrahamG. Thomas, Dr. Tejinder Singhand Dr. Kim J. Mammen (Associate Director, CMC) gave away the mementoes to the reunion batches. During this, the alumni shared their experiences since graduation and also narrated anecdotes about their time spent in the CMC many years ago. The alumni also visited the hostels, college and hospital premises to relive old memories and to see the newer developments that have taken place at CMC, since the days that they were here.

Show Houseful

A musical play ‘Aladdin: The Musical’, the 22nd production of the music and theatre workshop of Christian Medical College is being staged at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan from March 23 to 25.

The Patron Dr Abraham G Thomas appreciated the efforts put up by the students and congratulated them for a wonderful show. The show was housefull and the crowd was overwhelmed and mesmerised by the acting, the wonderfully choreographed dances, the majestic sets, props and costumes and beautifully harmonised compositions.

A total of 200 students are participating in the grand show and they are designing the costumes, props, playing live music. The cast direction has been done by Jurgen Jacob, while the music has been composed by Niyah Syam and Rickson. The props had been created by Ojus Bhanot and Leah Susan. The main roles are played by Jurgen, Saira Dayal, Jayant, Srishti, Ewan and Stephen Jude as the Genie.
