The government is preparing a comprehensive plan to prevent crime against women. Besides, a police complaints authority is being constituted for quick disposal of complaints.
Ram Niwas, Additional Chief Secretary, (Home), urged senior police officers to visit all educational institutions and sensitise girls about such crimes, besides informing them about helpline number 1091. He also urged the police and the civil administration to seek assistance of NGOs and Panchayati Raj Institutions for ensuring women’s safety.
In view of the recent incidents, BS Sandhu, DGP, had issued orders to all SPs to get in touch with schools in their districts and sensitise students and teachers, besides holding meetings with panchayats. He also ordered to post women police personnel as decoys near schools under “Operation Durga”. — TNS
