Jalandhar, September 25
Though the weather conditions in the district have improved considerably, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma has asked officials to remain vigilant for another 48 hours to tackle any sort of emergency due to the enhanced level of water in the Sutlej.
The DC, who reviewed the situation in the wake of the release of water from Ropar headworks, said though weather had cleared in the district today, a vigil had to be kept in the wake of the current weather conditions in the neighbouring hill state, which was a cause of concern. Continuous rain in the hill state would enhance the level of water in rivers, which could pose danger to the district. — TNS
