Govt invites suggestions

The state government has sought suggestions for its policy for the regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the state. The draft of the policy has been uploaded on websites of the department concerned – www.puda.gov.in, pbhousing.gov.in and lgpunjab.gov.in.

According to Director, Town and Country Planning, Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority, suggestions are invited from the general public on the draft of the policy by email on [email protected] and [email protected]. The state government had earlier announced for the regularisation of illegal colonies in the state. The previous SAD-BJP government had also issued a notification before the last Assembly elections giving a chance to colonisers and property owners to get their unauthorised colonies or properties regularised but the government received a low response.

Meanwhile, Punjab Colonisers and Property Dealers’ Association, president Kultar Singh Jogi opposed the regularisation policy draft. “The Congress promised in its manifesto that a regularisation policy will be introduced if it forms a government. The draft is not according to our expectations and promises. We will file objections. Ahead of the last Assembly elections, we had announced to support the Congress as we were not satisfied with the policy of the previous SAD-BJP government. If the government fails to fulfill its promise, we will oppose it.”
