Cops make villagers pledge to boycott cow slaughter after Bulandshahr riots

The Uttar Pradesh Police are making villagers collectively take a pledge to socially boycott anyone indulging in cow slaughter and hand them to the police.

A video clip going viral on the social media shows a policeman in rural Meerut making a large number of villagers collected in a public place raise both their hands to take the pledge. 

“Aaj ke baad gaon me ya gaon ke paas gokashi nahi hone denge. Aur jo gokashi karega uska samajik bahishkar karenge aur police ke hawale karenge. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat”. (From today onwards would not allow cow slaughter in and around the village. Will socially boycott anyone who indulges in cow slaughter and hand him over to the police. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat).

This clearly comes after the December 3 violence in Bulandshahr killing Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a local youth and member of the lynching mob Sumit.

In a review meeting after the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath’s had expressed unhappiness over the continuing incidents of cow slaughter despite his government banning illegal cow slaughter immediately after assuming office.

He had asked the DGP and chief secretary to issue immediate instruction to the district police chiefs and district magistrates across the state to launch a public campaign against cow slaughter.

Meanwhile, Bulandshahr chief judicial magistrate Avdhesh Pandey has issued non-bailable warrants against the 27 named person in the December 3 violence lodged in the Syana police station after the killing of the police inspector and the local youth.

NBWs have been issued against Bulandshahr Bajrang Dal convenor Yogesh Raj, BJP’s Syana youth wing president Shikar Agarwal, VHP activist Upendra Raghav Rajkumar and a host of others who are still at large more than 10 days after the incident.

Thirteen people, including an army man Jitendra Malik alias Jeetu Fauji, are behind bars in the case.

Bulandshahr SSP office confirmed that the process to impound the property of the accused persons has begun to put pressure on them to surrender in court or present themselves for arrest.
