Vigilance nabs ASI, head constable for accepting bribes

CHANDIGARH: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Thursday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and Head Constable (HC) while accepting bribes.

State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Thursday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and Head Constable (HC) while accepting bribes.

Announcing this here, an official spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Chain Singh posted at Police Station Sidhwan Bait, Ludhiana Rural, was nabbed red-handed on the complaint of Jaswinder Singh of Pratap Singh Wala village in Ludhiana.

The complainant had approached the VB that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 10,000 for letting free his three tractor-trolleys to carry sand. The Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot accepting the money from the complainant.

In another case, Head Constable Jeet Singh posted at Police Station Lakho Ke Behram in Ferozepur district was nabbed on the complaint of Mukhtiar Singh of Aavan village in Ferozepur. The complainant had approached the VB that the accused was demanding Rs 3,000 to present challan of his case in the court.

The Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused was arrested on the spot accepting the money from the complainant.

He said cases under Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ludhiana and Ferozepur, respectively.
