New popular ideals

Even since the late Mr. Gokhale introduced the primary education bill and woke up the country to the needs of the country, there has been a persistent effort to provide greater facilities for education everywhere. It is gratifying to learn that the Native states of India are as zealous as other parts in this matter and they strive to start new schools, colleges, hostels and school buildings. At one time the charitable persons desiring to benefit the public, used to build temples, bathing ghats, wells and dharamsalas or rest houses. Now-a-days it is the rule that they build schools or hospitals and similar objects of public benefit.
