A speeding truck crushed two siblings standing with their mother to cross the Jalandhar bypass here today. While one of them, an eight-year-old girl, did not survive, her younger brother sustained serious injuries. Their mother also suffered injuries.

According to information, Pooja and her husband Chandan worked at a cold storage facility and resided there. She, along with her children Riya and Yash, was going towards the Karabara side when a speeding truck coming from the Delhi side crushed her daughter to death and seriously injured her son. Pooja fell due to the impact of the incident, which took place near Jassian cut.
The girl succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while the boy was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured child is reported to be critical. The girl’s body was sent for a postmortem examination.
A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the truck at the Salem Tabri police station.
It is worth mentioning here that a number of fatal mishaps have occurred near the Jalandhar bypass and Jassian cut in the past, but requisite measures are yet to be taken to avert such incidents.
