The Guardians of Governance from Amritsar district have filed maximum reports to the Chief Minister’s office till date. Lt Gen Tejinder Singh Shergill (retd), Senior Advisor to CM, expressed his satisfaction over the work by the Guardians of Governance deputed in the district during a function at Pakharpura village in Majitha.

TS Shergill stated that 19,000 reports had been received and almost 60 per cent were from Amritsar district. Shergill has chaired two separate meetings with Guardians of Governance and residents at Pakharpura village and Baba Bakala.

He said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh analysed the reports submitted by Guardians of Governance in presence of secretaries of the departments concerned.

While addressing the Guardians of Governance, Shergill stated that the government had instructed the Deputy Commissioners, Subdivisional Magistrates and secretaries of departments to resolve the issue within 24 hours of receipt of the same.

Shergill asked the Guardians of Governance to not work for any political party or group as they had been deployed to serve the society. “You are social warriors and we expect that you will share the details regarding drug smuggling, illegal sand mining, corruption and other evils with the government so that we can eradicate these from the state,” he said.

He stressed on facilitating the real beneficiaries of Atta-Dal, pension and health schemes and cancelling the fake cards. The Guardians of Governance would be awarded by Chief Minster for the credible reporting about the sarpanches and government officials. Senior officials of district were present on the occasion.
