Haryana Police transfer case to Crime Branch

PANCHKULA: The Haryana Police have transferred the case of acquisition of two acres of shamlat land in Kalka tehsil to the State Crime Branch (SCB).

The Haryana Police have transferred the case of acquisition of two acres of shamlat land in Kalka tehsil to the State Crime Branch (SCB).

Last month, an FIR was registered at the Sector 5 police station here against District Revenue Officer Vinod Sharma for allegedly acquiring two acres of shamlat land in Kalka tehsil. The case was registered on the complaint of the Directorate, HUDA. A senior Panchkula police official said initially, an FIR was registered in Panchkula but now, the case had been transferred to the crime branch. As per the complaint, Sharma, during his posting as LAO in 2015, had released money to claimants for the shamlat land in Toran village in Kalka. The value of two acres was around Rs 4 crore.

DRO Vinod Sharma had submitted that he was a signing authority while the case was prepared by the office staff. When the case came to his notice, he had filed a case in the court. The next date for hearing is February 6. HUDA have also suspended Kanungo Subhash, who was posted in the Land Acquisition Department.
