The police here today arrested a man in an attempt to murder case for allegedly pushing his wife from the balcony of the house following an argument.

The victim, identified as Ambika, suffered a fracture in the leg. She was admitted to a hospital where her condition is stated to be stable, said the police.

According to the police, the victim said she got married to Parmod Sharma and had a child from the wedlock. The victim stated that she was being tortured both physically and mentally by her husband in the past over one issue or the other.

The police said on the night of December 8, Parmod, who was under the influence of liquor, entered into an argument with his wife and made her sit on the grill of the balcony. In a fit of rage, he kept his wife hanging from the balcony and later pushed her. The victim, who sustained injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital in Panchkula, said sources.

The police said during preliminary investigations, it has come to fore that Parmod, who runs a medical store, was mentally upset. The accused had earlier divorced his first wife and got married to Ambika. Further investigations are on in the case, said the police.
