New Delhi, December 10

An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself when a few youths threatened to assault and kidnap his sister in Samaypur Badli, outer Delhi, said a police official.

According to his family members, four youths had thrashed him as they suspected he had stolen their money, which was later found to be false.

No suicide note was found, the official said.

Police said on Friday, the boy’s mother went to his room and found him hanging from a ceiling fan.

The family members rushed the boy, Deepak, to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, added the official.

His mother told the police that Deepak had been upset for a couple of days as he had an argument with the youths who later threatened to assault and kidnap his sister.

Deepak's uncle said he had informed him about his ongoing tussle with the four youths.

He said he can identify all of them. He added that a couple of days before Deepak committed suicide, the youths had beaten him up and said they would tell police that he had stolen cash from them.

None of the allegations, however, were found to be true, the official said.

Deepak's mother said she knew that he was feeling helpless as he feared he will not be able to save his sister.

Police have registered an FIR in the case and investigation is on, added the official
