Cops from Jind district have nabbed a local SHO accused of rape in a case registered in Jind. Identified as Dalbir Singh, he was posted as SHO of the Sadar police station.

The Commissioner of Police, who was reportedly informed prior to the arrest, had issued his immediate transfer orders, appointing a new SHO. The accused was on Saturday produced in court, which sent him in three-day police remand.

The 25-year-old victim claimed that the SHO had met her on the pretext of helping her get a job in a bar-cum-restaurant in Gurugram and then repeatedly raped her for around four months after filming her objectionable video and blackmailing her.

Commissioner of Police Mohammad Akil said the Jind police took away the SHO so that he could join the investigation and the local police would assist in investigation, if required.

Jind SP Ashwin Shenvi confirmed that the accused SHO had been arrested by the women police and was in three-day police remand.

The victim said in her complaint that she got married in November 2017, but started living separately soon afterwards and filed a case in Delhi, which was transferred to Gurugram.

On May 23, an FIR was lodged at the women police station in Gurugram, where she met Dalbir. She said he befriended her by promising help and and got her a job in a local bar. “Dalbir met me at the Jind bus stand in his Swift car on July 10. He claimed that he had shot the incident and sent me a video, threatening to make it viral. He has been raping me since,” the victim told the police.
