District tops in generating highest e-cards in 3 months

LUDHIANA: More than 36,85,818 e-cards have been issued to eligible beneficiaries in three months across Punjab under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, in which Ludhiana district has topped in the state by generating 3,69,429 e-cards.

More than 36,85,818 e-cards have been issued to eligible beneficiaries in three months across Punjab under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, in which Ludhiana district has topped in the state by generating 3,69,429 e-cards.

Disclosing this here today, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said this health insurance scheme was provides secondary, besides tertiary treatment, services in empanelled government and private hospitals, adding that as many as 4,133 needy patients have been facilitated treatment services so far. He said benefits worth Rs2.96 crore have been provided to patients in the district so far.

While reviewing the functioning of the health insurance scheme, he said the Health Department had witnessed high footfall of patients in hospitals for getting healthcare services under the SSBY. He said instructions have been issued to common service centres and hospitals to expedite the process of generating e-cards.

He said a beneficiary would only be considered eligible after being issued the e-card number and awareness camps were also being organised by the Health Department to motivate people to get their e-cards made from the common service centres and hospitals. He said instructions have been issued to the officers in this regard, so that maximum numbers of patients benefit from the scheme. Agrawal said to ensure secondary and tertiary healthcare services at the doorstep of people, besides 203 government hospitals, 432 private hospitals were empanelled under this scheme. He said a beneficiary can avail the health services across the state.
