A fine unbeaten contributions by Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 73 off 55 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes, and Abhishek Sharma who made 56 runs off 38 deliveries studded with nine boundaries and one six, helped Punjab register an easy 10-wicket win over Assam in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi.
Batting first, Assam lads bundled out for 125 runs in 34.5 overs. Sarupam Purkayastha (36) and Sibsankar Roy (28) were the two main contributors for the side. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh led the bowling attack and took four wickets by conceding 30 runs, while Mayank Markande (3/27) and Abhishek Sharma (2/14) were the other successful players for the bowling side.
In reply, Punjab achieved the target without losing any wickets in 15.2 overs. The side will now play its next match on December 12 against Services at the same venue.
