The College of Dairy Science and Technology, under Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, has started remedial classes for undergraduate students.
The initiative is a part of the Institutional Development Plan (IDP).
These classes are required to raise the level of comprehension and improve the knowledge, skills and attitude of the students, said GADVASU Vice-Chancellor Inderjeet Singh.
SPS Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science and Principal Investigator, IDP, supported the initiative, which is aimed at improving the practical skills of students and improve other academic deficiencies that remained during the Covid period.
Dr Ramneek, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology, addressed the students during the opening ceremony.
He informed the participants that the curriculum for these classes had been designed keeping in mind the needs/interest of the students.
He motivated the students to take maximum advantage of these classes.
Dr TS Rai, coordinator for the remedial classes, said these classes would be free of cost and would be conducted during off hours and Saturdays.
Dr Varinder Pal Singh, IDP in-charge of the college, informed that about 25 hours of theory and practicals would be devoted to each of six selected courses.
There will be a short test after every five hours of teaching to assess the improvement in students' level of understanding. The shortcomings would be discussed with the students and their queries will be resolved, he said.
