Chandigarh stalking: Barala charged with attempt to abduct Varnika Kundu

CHANDIGARH: Vikas Barala and Ashish have been charged with stalking and attempt to abduct Varnika Kundu. Charges were framed against the duo at the district courts.

Vikas Barala and Ashish have been charged with stalking and attempt to abduct Varnika Kundu. Charges were framed against the duo at the district courts in Chandigarh here on Friday. The charges are under sections 354 D, 365 and 341 of the IPC. The trial will begin on October 27.

Son of Haryana BJP chief, Subhash Barala, Vikas has twice been denied bail and is in Burail jail currently. 

On August 5, Vikas, a law student of Kurukshetra University, and his friend Ashish, a law graduate, had allegedly followed Varnika and tried to abduct her.

The girl called Chandigarh Police and the boys were nabbed. At the time of incident, they were reportedly under the influence of liquor.

Both were booked under section 354-D (stalking) of the IPC and under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act. Later, police added two more sections, including attempt to kidnap, and the two were arrested.
