UP native held for stealing mobiles

CHANDIGARH: The crime branch of the UT police has arrested a 30-year-old burglar for stealing six mobile phones.

Chandigarh, September 12

The crime branch of the UT police has arrested a 30-year-old burglar for stealing six mobile phones. An FIR in this regard was registered at the Sector 39 police station on September 7.

The suspect has been identified as Rajbir, a native of Uttar Pradesh. At present, he was residing at Burail village in Sector 45 here. The burglary was reported from an SCO in Sector 40.

The police said they got a tip-off that the suspect was roaming near the road separating Sector 11 and 12 following which a naka was laid near Punjab Engineering College. He was nabbed while he was going towards Nayagaon.

The police recovered five of the six stolen mobile phones from him.

The police said the complainant, Anurag Wasan, owner of the shop, had identified his mobile phones.

They said Rajbir had a tainted past. Earlier, he was arrested in three burglary cases registered at the Sector 34 police station in 2017. He was convicted in two cases, while he was an undertrial in one case at the District Courts.
