Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that the BJP would release the list of all its 23 candidates in the next four days.

Addressing a rally after the conclusion of the party’s “Vijay Sankalp Yatra” here, Jaitley called upon the electorates to vote for the SAD-BJP alliance to enable it to form the government for the third consecutive time.

Speaking in Punjabi, Jaitley, said it had become a norm in Punjab that a government was changed every five years, but the SAD-BJP ended it in 2012 by coming to power for the second consecutive time. “Apparently, the voters had endorsed its people-oriented policies and overall development in the state,” he said. He blamed the “misrule” of the Congress government that had resulted in the spread of terrorism in the state in the 1980s.

He alleged: “During the previous Congress regime in the state during 2002-07, the governance was degenerated since the party put in all its efforts and resources in carrying out vendetta politics.”

“Cases of disproportionate assets were filed and vigilance officers carried out searches even at the residence of Akali patriarch Parkash Singh Badal. Eventually, nothing came out. The government did not do anything notable to show around to the electorates and lost the 2007 elections,” he said.

On the other hand, the SAD-BJP government pursued its policy of overall development in the state. Senior party leaders Narendra Singh Tomar, Prabhat Jha, Vijay Sampla and Shwait Malik also spoke on the occasion.
