A 20-year-old cyclist was killed after being hit by a tipper on the Bhankharpur-Ghaggar bridge on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway today.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip, a resident of Bhankharpur village and native of UP. Mubarikpur police in-charge Kamal Taneja said Dilip was returning home on a bicycle after having food at an eatery in Zirakpur. When he reached the Ghaggar bridge, a speeding tipper coming from the rear side hit him. Dilip fell from his bicycle and was crushed under the tyres of the tipper, killing him on the spot.
