The Sunday morning brought in sweet surprise in form of heavy rainfall as people woke up to grey skies and respite from another hot and humid day. The sudden showers not only made for some happy smiles but also brought the temperature down.

With the predicted rains for the weekend, the city got into its monsoon mood and enjoyed getting soaked. While most people chose to enjoy the rain, there were some who had to brave it out on the road as traffic jams, clogged streets and drains brought back the monsoon menace. But most enjoyed these fresh showers as it meant a break from the harsh summer sun.

“It is definitely a welcome surprise. The temperature were too high and difficult to bear. We hope the rains continue for a day or two more so that we can enjoy good weather,” said Rajeev Sharma, who was seen enjoying some water activities at Company Bagh with his family.

Packed were the coffee shops and dhabas in the city with people enjoying the rain over piping hot cups of masala tea and even hotter pakoras. “It’s the best time to have pakoras and since you can’t go out much with friends when it rains, you have got to make use of whatever the situation is,” shared Manjot Kaur, a student.

Youngsters and kids didn’t miss the opportunity as they turned up in parks and other public places to enjoy. Crowds at roadside eateries were a common sight.
