Bathinda, December 23

Members of the Punjab State Suwidha Centre Employees Union today burnt an effigy of the state government for its failure to fulfil their demands.

Raising anti-government slogans, the employees conducted a march from the District Administrative Complex to Hanuman Chowk and burnt the effigy there.

These employees are demanding regularisation of their jobs and scrapping of the system of outsourcing of work at Sewa Kendras across the state.

Ravinder Singh, state president of the union, said, “Leaders make hollow promises. Once the model code of conduct is imposed, no demand can be met. The government is waiting for that moment. We will continue our stir and make sure that the vote bank of the SAD and BJP leaders is dented. Our demands are genuine and in accordance with the rules and the government should meet it.”
