MC holds camp for street vendors

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and the agency, which had carried out the survey of street vendors, Haryana Nav Yuvak Kala Sangam, organised a camp for vendors, whose mobile numbers were not registered, at the Community Centre in Sector 19, today.

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and the agency, which had carried out the survey of street vendors, Haryana Nav Yuvak Kala Sangam, organised a camp for vendors, whose mobile numbers were not registered, at the Community Centre in Sector 19, today. 

According to information, out of 22,214 street vendors in the city, 1,300 vendors’ mobile numbers were not registered. Such vendors were asked to submit their documents and mobile numbers for completing the survey. 

The Municipal Corporation has planned to start issuing licences to street vendors in a month or two. In the first phase, licences will be issued to the vendors of Ward No. 17 (consisting of Sectors 18, 19 and 21). The ward is at present represented by Mayor and BJP councillor Asha Kumari Jaswal.
