Villages with no crime record this year to be awarded: DGP

YAMUNANAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP) KP Singh exhorted representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) to adopt a positive approach, as the institutions of grass-root democracy were a strong tool to make society crime free.

Director General of Police (DGP) KP Singh exhorted representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) to adopt a positive approach, as the institutions of grass-root democracy were a strong tool to make society crime free.

“If we want betterment of the country and society, we will have to infuse a positive approach in our youth,” the DGP said while delivering a lecture on “Role of Police in Panchayati Raj” here today.

Singh asked PRI representatives to rise above from party politics and help the administration to ensure peace and brotherhood. The DGP appealed to them to help the police in making society crime free. “Villages with no crime record this year will be awarded with appreciation letters.”

He gave away appreciation letters to sarpanches Rakesh Kumar of Sugh village, Kanta of Lakkarmai Pratapur village, Vikram Singh of Hartan village and Praveen Kumar of Khizrabad for their carrying out development works.

Inspector General of Police, Karnal range, Subhash Yadav, Deputy Commissioner SS Phulia, Superintendent of Police Sumer Pratap Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaleen, Jagadhri SDM Prem Chand, were present among others.
