Three persons were killed today in separate railway mishaps. Among these, one deceased was yet to be identified.

The first incident was reported on the Jalandhar-Suranasi railway tracks where a man was found dead under mysterious circumstances. He was reportedly crushed by a train. In the second incident reported near the Gajigula locality on the Jalandhar-Khojewal railway tracks, a 30-year-old woman Satwinder Kaur of Gandhi Camp was crushed to death by a Jalandhar-Ferozepur passenger train in the morning. She was attempting to cross the tracks and was hit by the speeding train. She was a nurse in a private hospital.

In the third incident, a 35-year-old man Surjit Singh, a resident of Alipur near Lambra, was crushed by a train near the Garha level crossing when he was crossing the tracks. He died on the spot.

Considering no foul play in all three cases, the GRP initiated the inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. After conducting the postmortem, two of the bodies were handed over to the kin, while one was kept at a mortuary in the Civil Hospital for identification.
