Rani’s next, Mardaani 2

Rani Mukerji had wowed us all with her brilliantly feisty performance in the super-hit film Mardaani. She played the role of a daredevil senior inspector, Shivani Shivaji Roy who takes on the kingpin of the child trafficking racket. 

The recent news is that Yash Raj Films is making the sequel to this much loved movie. Produced by Aditya Chopra, this will be Rani’s next release after her much- acclaimed Hichki, and will also mark her return to acting post pregnancy.

Speaking about Mardaani, Rani says, “Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Right after its release, everyone has been asking me do Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise for them.” She also gives a sneak peek into her character, “Shivani will face a cold and merciless villain who has no empathy, fear of God and is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out who will play the villain.” The movie is set to go on floor next year and will release in the later half of 2019.
