Police successfully checked terror attacks, solved cases of target killings of politico-religious leaders

Terror attacks and target killings kept the police on the edge while the state’s fight against drugs that began with a bang in the initial months of the two-year tenure of the Capt Amarinder Singh government went cold gradually.

While the police successfully checked terror attacks, solved cases of target killings of politico-religious leaders, new challenges emerged with the arrest of Kashmiri terrorists for the first time for allegedly attacking the Maqsudan police station in Jalandhar. The police also arrested some Kashmiri students for storing weapons in their college hostel.

More than 20 modules of terrorist groups of alleged Sikh extremists were busted. The police also managed to bust leading groups of gangsters. These groups had mushroomed in plenty during the previous government’s tenure.
