Punjab Congress launches helpline for agitating farmers

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 13

Coming in support of the agitating farmers, the state Congress today announced legal aid for farmers amid the ongoing farmers’ protest.

Launching a helpline mobile number for the farmers, state party president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring voiced staunch opposition to the BJP-led Central Government and pledged unwavering support to the farmers of Punjab engaged in the ongoing protest at the Haryana borders.

He said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had already announced that on being voted to power, it will bring a legislation on MSP. The BJP was only acting as farmer’s saviour, but it was against the farmers. It is disheartening that the ‘anna daata’ of our nation continues to grapple for their fundamental rights promised to them by the Centre long ago. This juncture will etch itself into history, akin to the previous farmers’ protest.”
